AC/DC is obviously one of the most iconic hard rock bands in the history of the genre and remains known for their high-octane, in-your-face riffs, solos and vocals. The band has numerous hit singles, so with a discography packed with so many hits, it’s really difficult to pinpoint the very best AC/DC songs of all time. But, we’re giving it a go.

AC/DC got together formed in Sydney, Australia, in 1973, and the band was put together by brothers Malcolm Young and Angus Young.  Both brothers were an instrumental part of the band from its start and throughout the band’s entire career, until Malcolm, who passed away in 2017, retired from the music industry in 2014 due to deteriorating health.

AC/DC’s earliest lineup included the Young brothers, along with drummer Colin Burgess, bass guitarist Larry Van Kriedt and vocalist Dave Evans. But, that lineup didn’t stick around for long. Before the band released their 1974 set “T.N.T.,” they had a new vocalist in Bon Scott, drummer in Phil Rudd and bass player in Mark Evans. So, the “T.N.T.” lineup featured the Young brothers, Scott, Rudd and Evans.

The band’s current lineup brings together Angus Young, Johnson, Stevie Young, Chris Chaney and Matt Laug, so only Angus and Johnson have been with the band since its early days. In their time together, AC/DC has sold more than 200 million records around the world.

So, let’s do the impossible and try to narrow down AC/DC’s best songs to just five. In honor of this mammoth hard rock band, Audio Ink Radio presents the five best AC/DC songs of all time.

The Greatest AC/DC Songs

“Thunderstruck”

“Thunderstruck” is simply a behemoth of a song from these Australian hard rockers. The track, which was unleashed as the lead single from the group’s 12th studio album, 1990’s “The Razors Edge,” has become one of the most recognizable AC/DC songs, plus it’s perfect with the band’s lightning bolt symbol.

“Shoot to Thrill”

AC/DC released “Shoot to Thrill” off 1980’s “Back in Black,” and it became an instant hit. It’s become a landmark of AC/DC’s sound and style, and, of course, it’s a staple at their live shows.

“Back in Black”

“Back in Black” just might be the most iconic AC/DC song of all time. The song is the title track off the band’s seminal 1980 release, “Back in Black,” which arrived in the heat of the summer in the U.S. and just heated things up even more.

“Let There Be Rock”

“Let There Be Rock” is the title track of the band’s 1977 album, so this is one of the earlier songs on the set. “Let There Be Rock” became an anthem of not only rockers everywhere but also the underdog, with this vehement message about rocking until you drop no matter what.

“You Shook Me All Night Long”

“You Shook Me All Night Long”, as with many songs on this tally. appeared on AC/DC’s famed “Back in Black” album but it got an extra boost when it was release on their 1986 soundtrack album, “Who Made Who.” It’s another AC/DC classic that brings together heavy, catchy riffing with mighty vocals to great accord.
