Alternative rock band Tonic are set to record new tracks

“If you could only see” the future of Tonic, it would foreshadow new music planned for 2012. The alternative rock band behind eternal hits such as “If You Could Only See” and “Open Up Your Eyes” have confirmed that they’re en route to the studio to put together the follow-up to their 2010, self-titled release.

The guys shared the news via a band newsletter this week: “We’re excited to announce our plans for the New Year, which includes going back into the studio in January!” the newsletter read. “Stay tuned for upcoming tour dates and more information about new Tonic recordings!” Tonic’s last album brought the kind of arena-primed, crunchy alternative rock that sounded like the effort of a band picking up right where it left off, so time will tell how the new set plays.

While the band preps for a new record, Tonic main man Emerson Hart has also booked a handful of tour dates, kicking off Dec. 7 in Annapolis, Md., and wrapping Dec. 17 in Evanston, Ill. All in all, the jaunt hits nine North American cities, visiting intimate venues. Find a complete set of Emerson Hart’s tour dates at the end of the story.
