George Harrison iPad App Features Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme
Queens of the Stone Age guitarist appears on new George Harrison app
Late Beatles guitarist George Harrison is getting immortalized with a special iPad app celebrating his historical guitar collection. On Tuesday (Jan. 17), the George Harrison estate announced a forthcoming “The Guitar Collection: George Harrison” iPad app. The app will arrive Feb. 23, just two days before Harrison’s birthday, and run $9.99 at the Apple App Store.
The app takes the user through Harrison’s private guitar collection with photographs, audio, meticulous descriptions, video footage and more. Featuring 360-degree photos and images by photographer Steven Sebring, uses can inspect every little dent, scratch, paint chip and tatty thread on Harrison’s guitars, the app promises.
“The Guitar Collection” lays out the history of each of Harrison’s guitars, from when and how it became part of Harrison’s collection to the way he remodeled it to why each cherished guitar was so vital to his special sound. An added bonus is that Harrison’s songs are organized by the guitars used on each track. True fans could get lost in the app for hours!
The video area of the app shows Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, Ben Harper, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ Mike Campbell and Dhani Harrison each playing and exploring the guitars’ feels and tones. Moreover, Conan O’Brien – the late-night television host and self-proclaimed guitar buff — and Dhani chat about the classic guitars. Gary Moore also appears in a video and speaks about what made George Harrison an influential guitar player. What rocker would you like to see launch an app next?
