Mastodon and Opeth to Embark on 2012 Co-Headlining Tour
Mastodon and Opeth will hit over 30 North American cities this spring
Metal kiddies will love this one: Mastodon and Opeth have announced a hefty co-headlining North American tour set to hit North American theaters this spring. The “Heritage Hunter Tour” sets off April 4 in Portland, Maine, and hit over 30 cities before wrapping up May 12 in Atlanta. Each date will see Mastodon and Opeth alternate as headliner, with Ghost providing support. Find a complete list of tour dates, below. That’s a lot of metal!
Mastodon are out in support of their latest studio release, “The Hunter,” which arrived in September of 2011 via Reprise Records. The album totes a Grammy-nominated single for Best Hard Rock / Metal Performance in “Curl of the Burl.” Opeth’s latest set of brutally raw and rough metal, “Heritage,” also dropped in September of last year.
Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt had this to say about the upcoming trek in a release: “We’re touring North America together with Mastodon soon. Nice! One of the very few metal bands of today that I genuinely like. Good people too! Ghost are coming with us as well, and they are one of the hottest new bands to come out of Sweden in recent years, and I dig them too. I sound like an old fart, don’t I? Well, I am.”
A fan pre-sale starts Feb. 1, and a public on-sale follows on Feb. 3 and 4. Visit Mastodon’s website and Opeth’s website for complete ticketing information.
