Adrenaline Mob taps Disturbed’s John Moyer for new gig

Heavy metal outfit Adrenaline Mob have a new bass player, and he comes from a high-profile hard rock band you probably know by name. John Moyer of Disturbed is joining the Adrenaline Mob family, which also features drummer Mike Portnoy, Symphony X frontman Russell Allen and guitarist Mike Orlando of Sonic Stomp. Moyer will play his debut show with Adrenaline Mob March 12 at Hiro Ballroom in New York City.

Moyer says Portnoy personally asked him to audition for the Mob. “Mike Portnoy called me about auditioning for his new band Adrenaline Mob,” Moyer explained in an official statement. “He had heard through the grapevine that I was looking to stay busy while Disturbed is on hiatus. After jamming with Russ, Mike Orlando, and Portnoy, the chemistry as musicians was undeniable.”

Moyer is beyond excited about his new metal kinfolk. “I am super stoked about joining ‘the Family,’” he said, “and I can’t wait to hit the road with these guys and see what kind of musical mayhem we can create!”

Adrenaline Mob’s full-length debut, the melody-rich “Omertá,” arrives March 13 in the U.S. on Elm City Music, in combination with EMI Label Services. The collection drops March 19 in Europe on Century Media Records. The 11-song set was produced by the band and mixed by Jay Ruston (Anthrax, Steel Panther). Expect to hear a cover of Duran Duran’s seminal track, “Come Undone,” featuring guest vocals by none other than Halestorm frontwoman Lzzy Hale on the album. (Photo credit: Anne Erickson.)
