Dave Grohl Promises Foo Fighters Won’t Dance at Grammy Awards

Foo Fighters frontman: ‘I don’t want to dance after Chris Brown has been dancing’

Every year, the fine folks at the Grammy Awards bring together some of the most unlikely duos to perform a sometimes stellar, sometimes, uh, uncomfortable performance. This year, the topper very well could be the just-announced dedication to electronic music, a show that will put together a one-of-a-kind mix of performers: Lil Wayne, David Guetta, Chris Brown, Deadmau5 and even grunge rock band Foo Fighters.

Foo Fighters throat Dave Grohl is taking the strange mash-up in stride. “Well, Deadmau5 is maybe the only EDM artist I know because we did a bunch of festivals over the summer, and for whatever reason, he would be headlining over there while we were headlining over here,” he told MTV News just a few days before the show. “I guess people thought that our audiences would split, but our audiences are compatible in a way, because what he does … rocks.

“The remix that he did for [Foos’ single] ‘Rope’ is really good, and it’s clever… “ added Grohl, who’s up for six Grammys tonight with the Foos. “He actually did a rearrangement … so when we were asked to perform with him, we said OK.”

As it turns out, producers wanted Grohl to dance during the show tonight. His response? No way! “When we got asked to do it, I said, ‘I can’t do it. I can’t dance,’” Grohl said. “I think we go on right after Chris Brown or something, and I don’t want to dance after Chris Brown has been dancing. Nobody can dance like that guy.” The 54th annual Grammy Awards air 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT tonight (Feb. 12) on CBS.
