Guns N’ Roses Won’t Play Rock Hall Induction, Says Slash
Hard rock guitarist Slash will attend April’s Rock Hall ceremony, but don’t expect him to perform
Back in the ‘80s, when popular music was completely dominated by dance music and sugary-sweet pop, Guns N’ Roses resurrected down-and-dirty, in-your-face rock and spit it out to the masses. The gents are getting honored for that influence with an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this April, and fans are pumped.
Former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash says he’ll definitely be in attendance at the ceremony on April 5 in Cleveland, but that doesn’t mean GN’R will be playing it. In fact, he’s sure they won’t rock it live at the event. “ …We’re not playing,” he told the Toronto Sun. “I would imagine that they asked us to play, but I know that we’re not playing.”
He does say it’s an “honor” to be inducted, even though the thought of being in the Rock Hall hasn’t sunk in yet. “Either it hasn’t hit me yet or maybe it’s been so long since I had anything to do with Guns N’ Roses that I just don’t really get it,” he said.
Right now, Slash’s upcoming solo album is on the forefront of his mind. The collection, titled “Apocalyptic Love,” drops on May 22, and Alter Bridge crooner Myles Kennedy, once again, will lend his lush tenor and songwriting skills to the set. Drummer Brent Fitz and bass player Todd Kerns round out Slash’s band, which they’re billing as “Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators.” Check out details on the release and upcoming North American tour, here.
