Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor to Receive Golden Note Award from ASCAP

ASCAP honors Reznor for his innovative creative work

Congratulations are in order for Nine Inch Nails singer and founder Trent Reznor. The frontman will be the newest musician awarded the prominent Golden Note Award, which is awarded to songwriters, composers and artists who have accomplished remarkable success in their careers. The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) presents the award each year.

“As the creative genius behind the pioneering industrial rock group Nine Inch Nails and one of the most innovative and cutting-edge songwriter-composers of any genre, Trent Reznor continues to blaze trails into uncharted musical territory,” ASCAP President and Chairman Paul Williams said in an official statement. “We’re thrilled to honor him with the prestigious Golden Note Award for his achievements in songwriting and his award-winning film scores.”

Reznor will be presented with the award on April 18 during the annual Pop Music Awards at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles, Calif. He’s in good company, too, as previous winners include Elton John, Tom Petty, Quincy Jones, Lionel Richie and Electric Light Orchestra main man Jeff Lynne. Reznor already owns Grammys, a Golden Globe and an Oscar, so the Golden Note won’t be lonely on his mantle.

Renzor broke into the mainstream as the singer and songwriter for Nine Inch Nails, his innovative industrial rock band that shook up rock radio and pop rock. As for Grammys, he scored two Best Metal Performance Grammys for the Nine Inch Nails singles “Wish” and “Happiness in Slavery.” Reznor has also played with a ton of side projects and owns his own independent label, The Null Corporation.
