Guns N’ Roses’ Matt Sorum Hopes Band Performs at Rock Hall Ceremony

Matt Sorum is keeping positive about Guns N’ Roses induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Ask every member of Guns N’ Roses whether or not the band will reunite to perform as a collective bunch at the upcoming Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and each member will likely give a different answer. But, Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum doesn’t think an onstage reunion is completely out of the question. Of course, more than anything, he hopes the evening is friendly.

“We’re all sitting at the same table, so it should be cool,” Sorum told Billboard. “After we get a little bit of food in us, hopefully someone will get up and want to play, but I don’t know. I’m not the guy to ask. I just hope it works out.”

Sorum is beyond honored that Guns N’ Roses made the short list this year. “I feel great about it,” said the drummer, who joined Guns N’ Roses in 1989 to replace original drummer Steven Adler. “I’m glad I made the cut. I don’t know who that secret society is that votes you into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but I’m glad I have some friends in there, somehow. The original band got in and I got in and [keyboardist] Dizzy Reed and that’s it, seven of us. It’ll be a great night.”

Fans will have to wait until the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony to find out if Guns N’ Roses will play live. The event — which will also honor Red Hot Chili Peppers and Beastie Boys and others — will take place in on April 14 in Cleveland, at Cleveland’s Public Hall. The show will be broadcast on HBO in early May.
