‘The Global Warming Tour’ kicks off in June, featuring Aerosmith, Cheap Trick

It’s finally happening: Aerosmith have announced the first leg of their 2012 summer tour, and the boys are taking Cheap Trick along for the ride. Following a stint rocking South America and Japan, the Boston rock and rollers are headlining back to the U.S. on “The Global Warming Tour,” rocking 18 cities starting June 16 in Minneapolis, Minn., and closing out August 8 in Tacoma, Wash.

The guys in the band are pumped for the tour, and they’re hoping to see every blasted Aerosmith fan at the shows. “The old Aerosmith is back with a new vengeance and we will kick your ass and make out with your mothers,” said frontman Steven Tyler, who has recently been in the press for his work as a judge on popular reality TV show “American Idol.” Guitarist Joe Perry is pumped, too: “Can’t wait to bring this band back home. It feels like we’ve been away too long.”

Bass player Tom Hamilton added: “After touring Japan and South America last year we’re psyched about bringing it all back for the hometown fans. We’re going to break out the classics, the hits and maybe even some of the new ones we’ve been banging out in the studio. Can’t wait to get to Minneapolis!”

Tickets for “The Global Warming Tour” go on sale Friday (March 30) and Saturday (March 31) via Ticketmaster and Live Nation. So far, the band have announced the first leg of U.S. tour dates, and a second leg is set to be announced soon.
