Alter Bridge release their “Live at Wembley” CD/DVD set this week

On Tuesday (March 27), melodic rock act Alter Bridge will unchain their much-anticipated “Live at Wembley” CD/DVD package, which highlights the group’s high-octane 2011 performance at Wembley Arena in the U.K. As it turns out, guitarist Mark Tremonti says the guys have always wanted to record their live show in an arena, which is just what happened with “Wembley.”

“It was our first time at Wembley,” Tremonti told ABC News Radio.  “But London has always been one of our most enthusiastic crowds so when we first got together and put the tour plan together and saw Wembley on the schedule, especially it being a last show, and so it was the obvious choice.”

The CD portion of “Live at Wembley” offers 14 tracks, while the DVD showcases the entire concert, featuring the group rocking 21 tracks spanning all of their albums. “Our shows seem to get longer and longer,” Tremonti said. “Every time we wanna cut songs out, we decide against it.  We love performing and I think with the next record the shows will probably be even longer.”

So, what’s Tremonti’s favorite part of the show? Performing the title track from their 2007 disc, “Blackbird.” “[‘Blackbird’ is] our favorite song that we’ve ever done so it’s special for us,” he said. “It’s the kind of song once we had put it together we kind of stepped back and we’re like ‘Wow, I can’t believe this is our creation here.’ We were very proud of it, and I think it’s just our proudest moment.” (Photo credit: Ashley Maile.)
