Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger Talks ‘Here and Now Tour,’ Loving the Fans

Nickelback frontman is pumped to play the hits on the band’s ‘Here and Now Tour’

Nickelback kick off their “Here and Now Tour” tonight (April 10) in Moline, Ill., alongside Bush and Seether, and frontman Chad Kroeger says he understands the fans want to hear the all hits at a Nickelback show.

“They want to come see the single, I get that,” Chad told ABC News Radio. “Real fans that are deep album track fans want to hear more, but [we] stick to the hits. It’s kinda nice to do that and you get their attention [and] you hold their attention.” Still, Chad says they can’t play every single hit. Even in a lengthy headlining set, there just isn’t enough time. “We can’t play for four hours!” he laughed. “It’s a wonderful problem to have.”

Chad’s brother and Nickelback bass player Mike Kroeger recalls a time when the guys didn’t have enough to play live. “I remember back in the day when we only had seven songs and we had to, like, throw covers in just to round out the set!” he said. Guitarist Ryan Peake added, “Or play them twice!”

As for the fans, Chad loves the fact Nickelback’s supporters are a varied bunch. “You can’t peg a Nickelback fan. It’s impossible to do and that’s great,” he said. “I love that, because we don’t make music for one group of people.” Nickelback, Bush and Seether’s tour runs through July 30 in Raleigh, N.C., so the guys are going to be on the road for months.
