Stone Temple Pilots Announce First Live DVD, ‘Alive in the Windy City’
Grunge guys Stone Temple Pilots to release debut live DVD/blu-ray on June 5
It’s hard to believe, but Stone Temple Pilots celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut full-length, “Core,” this year. In honor of the milestone, the guys have hinted at a bunch of Stone Temple Pilots goodies on the way, including a possible cross-country tour in which the guys will play “Core” from front-to-back and even, possibly, new album.
Aside from all the speculation about how Stone Temple Pilots will ring in “Core’s” birthday, one thing is set in stone: The band will release their first-ever live DVD/Blu-ray on June 5. The set, called “Alive in the Windy City,” packs Stone Temple Pilots’ full concert from March 27, 2010, at the Riviera Theater in Chicago, Ill.
Stone Temple Pilots are famous for turning alternative rock into stadium anthems in the ‘90s. While they came on the heels of Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains, the guys of Stone Temple Pilots certainly had their own voice and changed the sound of grunge and post-grunge. STP were known for their tight, pop-driven song structure and melody, and that most certainly helped set them apart from their grunge rock peers. As for the songs captured on “Alice in the Windy City,” the 18-track disc packs all the hits, including “Vasoline,” “Creep,” “Big Empty,” “Sour Girl” and “Wicked Garden,” to name some. Find the complete track listing, below. Fans can pre-order the blu ray on Amazon and the DVD on BestBuy.com. What’s your favorite Stone Temple Pilots ditty? Let us know in the comments section.
