Scott Weiland and Stone Temple Pilots to co-headline Rock Allegiance

It’s starting. Stone Temple Pilots, the famed post-grunge band fronted by Scott Weiland, celebrates the 20th anniversary of their debut album, “Core,” this year, and the guys are finally starting to announce 2012 tour dates. The first is at Rock Allegiance festival on Sept. 1 in Hershey, Pa., at Hershey Park Stadium. Last year’s Rock Allegiance was a touring festival, but this year, it’s a one-off.

Other bands slated to play the fest count Three Days Grace (who are co-headlining with Stone Temple Pilots), Seether, Puddle of Mudd, Fuel, Daughtry, Black Stone Cherry, Foxy Shazam and Redlight King, among others. This will be Stone Temple Pilots’ first live show since last November. Tickets for Rock Allegiance go on sale April 20 at 10 a.m. EST, and more information is up on the Rock Allegiance website.

In other Stone Temple Pilots news, the band — which includes Weiland, guitarist Dean DeLeo, bass guitarist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz — will release their first-ever live DVD/Blu-ray on June 5. The set, called “Alive in the Windy City,” packs Stone Temple Pilots’ full concert from March 27, 2010, at the Riviera Theater in Chicago, Ill. As for the songs, the 18-track collection includes any and all of Stone Temple Pilots’ chart-toppers, including “Vasoline,” “Creep,” “Big Empty,” “Sour Girl,” “Interstate Love Song,” “Trippin’ on a Hole in a Paper Heart” and “Wicked Garden,” to name some. Find the complete track listing, here. Fans can pre-order the blu-ray on Amazon and the DVD on BestBuy.com. (Photo credit: Chapman Baehler.)
