Pearl Jam have just been confirmed to headline the 2012 DeLuna Fest, along with Foo Fighters and a collection of other artists, such as Florence + the Machine, Ben Folds Five, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and more. What makes the gig even more special is that Pearl Jam are taking a break from the road this year. In fact, DeLuna Fest’s booking manger says he believes Eddie Vedder and company are only on the books for two U.S. gigs this year.

“Pearl Jam is a band that doesn’t do anything that they don’t want to do,” DeLuna Fest booking manager Gus Brandt told AL.com. “I think they’re only doing two shows in America this year, so for DeLuna Fest to be one of them is a big deal.” DeLuna Fest will take place September 21-23 at Pensacola Beach in Pensacola, Fla.

If Pearl Jam will truly play only two shows this year, part of the reason likely stems from Eddie Vedder’s recent arm injury. The frontman recently had to postpone all of the dates on his upcoming solo tour, due to his suffering from temporary nerve damage in his right arm caused by a back injury he experienced earlier this year. Vedder, thankfully, is anticipated to make a complete recovery.

“After having worked aggressively with doctors and physical therapists for the last eight weeks to repair the damage, the intensity of the injury and time needed to heal has made it impossible to play the shows as scheduled,” Pearl Jam manager Kelly Curtis said in a statement on the Seattle grunge group’s official website. We wish Vedder a speedy recovery.
