Linkin Park Perform ‘Burn It Down’ at the Billboard Music Awards

The boys of Linkin Park rocked their latest single at last night’s Billboard show

While this year’s Billboard Music Awards were stuffed to the gills with pop, R&B and hip-hop, Linkin Park carried the torch for rock at the ceremony, which took place last night (May 20) in Los Angeles. The guys performed their new single, “Burn It Down,” off their forthcoming album, “Living Things,” set to arrive on June 26. Watch a video of the performance, below.

Amid a backdrop of thick smoke and giant flames, frontman Chester Bennington and rapper Mike Shinoda brought the track to life, with Bennington’s soaring vocals and Shinoda’s gutsy rhymes. Musically, the guitars and synths were loud, and the beats catchy and dance-happy– a combination that got the crowd pumping their fists and shaking it.

The show gave fans a taste of what to expect on Linkin Park’s upcoming tour with fellow alternative rockers Incubus. That trek, the 2012 Honda Civic Tour, sets off Aug. 11 in Bristow, Va., and plows through over a dozen arenas before wrapping Sept. 10 in San Diego, Calif. This will mark the first time Linkin Park and Incubus have toured together, and Bennginton thinks it will make for a killer package. “Linkin Park and Incubus fans have grown up together,” Bennington said in a statement. “We’re looking forward to bringing them all together for a great night of music.” Brandon Boyd from Incubus adds, “We’re going to have a blast on this tour, and I know the fans will too.” For ticket information, visit the Honda Civic Tour’s official site.
