Last Nova lead singer says song came to him in the middle of the night

San Francisco hard rockers the Last Nova are seeing success with their new single, ‘Wasted,’ which debuted at No. 6 on Billboard’s Top 100 Hot Singles chart last week. The track tells the tale of a night gone wrong and that age-old mistake of grabbing onto something comfortable as opposed to what’s good for you. Who hasn’t been there?

Lead singer Gabriel Davy says ‘Wasted’ came to him in the middle of the night. “’Wasted’ came about really quickly as a song, Aaron [Goforth, guitar] woke me up in the middle of the night saying he had this melody in his head he wanted to show me, a few minutes later we had the chorus worked out.

“It’s definitely a song I think people relate to because at some point we’ve all gone thru nights like that with someone, who despite not being good or healthy for us, we feel lovingly addicted to them.”

The Last Nova — which features Davy, Goforth, drummer Rob Bujak, bass player Surge Monroe and guitarist Nick Young — just wrapped up recording sessions for their new album with Dark New Day vocalist Brett Hestla, who has also produced Framing Hanley and Tantric, to name a few. Their upcoming new album is expected to drop this summer. “We will be out on tour this whole summer supporting it and are really looking forward to getting out there and doing what we do best,” Davy said.
