Beck Teams with Jack White’s Third Man Records for New Single

Alternative rocker Beck is set to release a one-off single via Jack White’s Third Man Records

Beck is back, and the alternative rock icon is set to release his latest single via Jack White’s Third Man Records label on May 28, according to Rolling Stone. The 7-inch — titled “I Just Started Hating Some People Today” on the A side and “Blue Randy” on the backside — will come packaged as a one-off single. Beck recorded both tracks last year at White’s personal studio in Nashville while Beck was in the process of working on his new full-length.

In Third Man Records tradition, a small collection of colored vinyl editions of the single will also be available. One hundred tri-color versions of the 7-inch will be available exclusively at Randy’s Records in Salt Lake City on June 2, and an additional color pressing will sprinkled in mail order copies purchased directly from Third Man. A digital version of the song will be up on the iTunes store.

This may be the perfect hold-over for fans that have been patiently waiting for Beck’s new album to drop. Beck hasn’t released any details on when he plans to release the new album, which will be the follow-up to his successful 2008 release, “Modern Guilt.” Beck also played his first show of 2012 earlier this week at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, but held off on playing any new material, keeping fans in suspense.
