As I Lay Dying to Offer Free Download of New Song, ‘Cauterize’
Christian metal band As I Lay Dying give fans taste of new album via free download
San Diego Christian metal gentlemen As I Lay Dying have dropped more details about their upcoming full-length, which is the follow-up to their 2011 compilation album, “Decas.” The group’s new studio disc, “Awakened,” will arrive on Sept. 25 via Metal Blade Records. They’ll also offer a free download of a new song, “Cauterize,” off the new album via the band’s official website on Monday (June 25) starting at midnight PST for 24 hours only.
Bill Stevenson of Black Flag and the Descendents — who is known for his production work with punk band such as Rise Against, NOFX, the Casualties, Anti-Flag and more — served as head producer for the album. Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Slipknot) mixed the disc.
As I Lay Dying will support the upcoming release with plenty of touring, and guitarist Nick Hipa recently checked in with Audio Ink Radio to discuss what the band jams out to on the road. “I listen to everything! As a guitarist, I’ve always been drawn to more traditional forms of heavy metal: old school stuff like the Randy Rhoads era of Ozzy Osbourne,” Hipa said. “That’s my favorite type of guitar-based music, and I find myself playing that all the time when I’m at home. The Scorpions are another metal band that aren’t as brutal and aggressive and are more feel-good. There’s not a whole lot of that.”
Up next, As I Lay Dying will head out on the 2012 Rockstar Mayhem Festival on June 30. The annual metal trek features Corey Taylor-fronted Slipknot, Christian metal-core band the Devil Wears Prada, metal guys Slayer, thrashers Anthrax, Christian metal outfit I the Breather and more.
