Foo Fighters Not Taking a Break Yet

Despite recent announcement, Foo Fighters haven’t played their last show of 2012

Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters headlined the last night of the Reading Festival in Reading, England, last Sunday (Aug. 26), where the gents rocked a two-and-a-half hour set featuring a whopping 26 songs. Talking to the crowd of thousands, Grohl stated that he believed this was a special show and that it was actually the last date of the band’s tour to promote their latest full-length, 2011’s “Wasting Light.”

Grohl explained early in the set that this fans might not see the Foo Fighters for a while. “Well, well, well. The… Reading festival. You guys realize we’ve got a lot of songs to play. It’s the last show of the tour and it’s the last show for a long time,” he said, according to NME.

Now, that doesn’t mean the band is finished playing live shows this year. In reality, Foo Fighters have at least three shows coming up: a Rock the Vote gig at the Democratic National Convention on Sept. 5, as well as two music festivals in Atlanta and Pensacola, Fla., later in September. Maybe Grohl spoke to soon or was referring only to the band’s “Wasting Light” tour, but the moral of this story is that the Foos are still kicking!

At Reading, the Foos thrashed through song after song of grunge rock bliss. During the gig, Grohl dedicated the band’s chart-topped “These Days” to his former Nirvana band mates, Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic, telling the crowd prior to playing the track, “I’d like to dedicate this song to a couple of people who couldn’t be here tonight. This one’s for Krist and this one’s for Kurt.”

Grohl also proved a family man, bringing his daughters Violet and Harper onstage and dedicating “Walk” and “Monkey Wrench” to the two of them, respectively. Grohl went on to dedicate the gig to Miti Adhikari, a BBC engineer who has worked closely with Grohl throughout the years. To stay up-to-date on all things Foo, visit the band’s official website.
