Metallica Offer Free Download of 1984 Show in Honor of Cliff Burton
Metallica are giving away a free download of their 1984 concert in Toulouse, France, as a tribute to late bass player Cliff Burton
This past Thursday (Sept. 27) was the 26th anniversary of the untimely passing of Metallica bass player Cliff Burton, who passed away in a tragic bus accident. To celebrate Burton’s life and legacy, the men of Metallica announced via Facebook that they’re giving away a free download of a show the group played at Le Riff in Toulouse, France, on Nov. 22, 1984.
In the post on Facebook, the band wrote this statement under a picture of Burton: “We miss you. While you’re remembering Cliff on the 26th anniversary of his passing, give a listen to this free download from the ‘Ride the Lightning’ tour.” The album includes the following live songs: “The Four Horsemen,” “Cliff Solo,” “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” “No Remorse,” “The Call of Ktulu,” “Seek & Destroy,” “Whiplash,” “Creeping Death,” “Kirk Solo” and “Metal Militia.” Fans may download the one-hour show via LiveMetallica.com.
In other Metallica news, the metal band are planning to release a new live DVD this December, and they’ve already polled fans to help them pick what bonus songs will be featured in the “extras” section of the release. More details on the forthcoming DVD are expected to drop soon.
