Green Day Cancel Voodoo Experience Appearance
Green Day have dropped off New Orleans’ Voodoo Experience lineup
This month’s Voodoo Experience music festival will feature performances from Jack White, Skrillex, Kaskade, the Avett Brothers, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Awolnation, Coheed and Cambria and more, but one of the festival’s biggest headliners, Green Day, just dropped off the bill. Drummer Tré Cool said the following in an official statement regarding the cancellation: “Canceling shows is something we rarely do. We never want to let our fans down, and we are grateful for all of you being understanding during this time.”
Green Day’s cancellation happens just a few weeks after frontman Billie Joe Armstrong checked himself into a rehab facility for substance abuse treatment following his onstage outburst at the band’s iHeart Music Festival appearance. Voodoo Experience was planned as the kick-off of Green Day’s upcoming North American tour, but as of now, it’s not certain whether other dates of Green Day’s tour will be influenced.
The Voodoo Experience is set for Oct. 26 through 28 in New Orleans, La., and the festival hadn’t announced a replacement act at press time. For more information on the festival, visit the event’s official website.
