Nirvana, Incubus, the White Stripes Offer Record Store Day Releases

Record Store Day’s Black Friday initiative will include releases from Nirvana, the White Stripes, Incubus and more

Each Black Friday, the folks behind Record Store Day offer some special releases available exclusively at your local, brick and mortar record shop. Official word on this year’s initiative has arrived, and on Nov. 23, a lengthy list of bands and artists will be offering new singles, album reissues, b-sides and other unreleased materials in the quest to keep local record stores thriving.

So, what artists are getting in on this year’s Black Friday initiative? One of the big musicians participating is Jack White, who will release three 7” vinyl singles from his former band, the White Stripes, including “I Just Don’t Know What to Do With Myself,” “Fell in Love with a Girl,” “Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground,” “Stop Breaking Down” and live versions of “Rated X” and “Hotel Yorba.” As for other alternative-minded musicians, My Morning Jacket will be unleashing a 10” vinyl single that offers a live version of the Band’s “It Makes No Difference” with Alabama Shakes singer Brittany Howard, plus the never-before-released song, “Grab a Body.” The Gaslight Anthem will be releasing a 10” vinyl single featuring three unreleased acoustic tracks: “Misery,” “Hold You Up” and a cover of Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love.”

In addition, a special 20th anniversary edition of Nirvana’s compilation disc, “Incesticide,” will arrive and vinyl reissues of Incubus’ 2004 release, “A Crow Left of the Murder,” will be available. For more on the exclusive releases, head to Record Store Day’s official website.
