Skillet Scores First-Ever No. 1 Active Rock Hit with Female Vocals
Rock News: Hard Rock Band Skillet Grabs No. 1 Spot on Rock Chart
The guys and gals of Skillet are high-fiving each other today. The Memphis-based hard rockers have socred their first-ever No. 1 Active Rock song with “Awake and Alive,” which went from No. 4 straight to No. 1 this week, according to Billboard.com. In the Active Rock chart’s 14-year history, this is the first of its 143 #1 songs to feature a female singer, as drummer Jen Ledger belts alongside the group’s frontman John Cooper on the track.

Skillet is currently on the Avalanche Tour 2011, with Stone Sour, Theory of a Deadman, Art of Dying and Halestorm, which tours various U.S. cities through April and into early May.
