Nirvana Ebook Offers Never-Before-Published Photos of Kurt Cobain
Sub Pop founder releases Nirvana ebook featuring never-before-seen photos of late frontman Kurt Cobain
Fans of grunge pioneers Nirvana now have the chance to view a slew of never-before-published early photos of late frontman Kurt Cobain and the Seattle group’s original lineup via a new digital ebook called “Experiencing Nirvana: Grunge in Europe, 1989.”
According to the official description on Apple’s iBookstore, the ebook is “both a photo journal and a grunge rock microhistory: an inside look into a crucial eight-day period in the touring life of Nirvana, and two other Seattle bands, as seen through the eyes of myself, the founder of Sub Pop, the Seattle label that first signed Nirvana in 1988.”
As one of the originators of Sub Pop, the author, Bruce Pavitt, helped launch the grunge movement in the late-‘80s and early-‘90s by singing influential alternative acts such as Nirvana and Mudhoney. His 165-page interactive ebook takes readers through Nirvana’s inaugural trip to Europe from Nov. 27 through Dec. 4, 1989, which took the gents from Rome to London during those early Sub Pop days.
“Experiencing Nirvana: Grunge in Europe, 1989” will run fans $9.99 at Apple’s iBookstore. All the nostalgia is for a good cause, too, as a part of the ebook’s proceeds will benefit the Vera Project, an all-ages volunteer fueled music and arts venue in Seattle.
