Mumford & Sons, Coldplay and Gotye Among Top Spotify Streams in 2012

Spotify favorites in 2012 included Mumford & Sons, Coldplay and Gotye

Spotify has released its tally of the most popular songs streamed in 2012, and Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know”” is No. 1 on the list, narrowly beating out Carly Rae Jepsen’s pop nugget “Call Me Maybe.” As for albums, Guetta’s “Nothing But the Beat” is the No. 1 most-streamed album of the year, followed by Gotye’s “Making Mirrors” and Drake’s “Take Care.”

Mumford & Sons was another Spotify favorite this year, as the band’s latest album, “Babel,” scored the highest number of streams for a newly released album in 2012, counting over 8 million in just one week.

Coldplay enjoyed the honors of being the most-streamed band of the year on Spotify, while Guetta ranked the most-streamed male artist and Rihanna scored the most-streamed female artist list. Other popular Spotify artists this year included Flo Rida, Eminem, Adele and Nicki Minaj.
