Pearl Jam bass player says band will likely ‘get busy’ with new album in March

Pearl Jam bass player Jeff Ament has been keeping busy with his side project RNDM while his main gig has enjoyed some time off over the past few months. RNDM recently released a new album, “Acts,” and as for Pearl Jam, Ament says he believes the guys will start getting serious about their upcoming full-length in March of 2013. That’s great news for Pearl Jam fans that have been waiting patiently for the legendary grunge group to finish the follow-up to their 2009 release, “Backspacer.”

“I’m probably not going to get busy with Pearl Jam until March or something,” Ament said during an interview with ARTISTDirect. “I’m up for whatever. There’s a little bit of momentum within [RNDM] right now so I think we want to keep it moving.”

On the subject of RNDM, Ament says the band’s latest album came together quickly and naturally. In fact, the recording process for the entire set took less than a week. “We basically did the recording in four days and one night,” Ament explained. “[The band] got in at about seven at night. We started recording at nine. We recorded one song, and we had [the album] four full days after that.”
