Phoenix to Release New Album in April
French pop-rockers Phoenix have finished recording the follow-up to their 2009 album, ‘Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix’
Indie pop-rock band Phoenix first caught the ears of the music community with their 2009 album “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix,” which scored the chart-toppers “Lisztomania” and “1901.” Now, fans can mark their calendars to get a new release from the group in April, according to a statement made by Daniel Glass, CEO of Phoenix’s label Glassnote Records at this week’s Spotify press conference.
Rolling Stone magazine reports that Glass stated he recently chatted with the guys of Phoenix on the phone from France, and they told him the new album was in the can.
In an interview with Pedestrian.tv (via MTV News), the group called the new album “very … nostalgic, futuristic.” The added, “It’s very experimental, it’s very minimal music. … I think because we do a lot of music with drum machines — we blend a lot drum machines and real drums — for us, it’s a way to escape that. There’s something a little frustrating when you do pop music, and drums are, they’re the DNA of our music, because we’d like to go somewhere else, we want to change that DNA.”
