Soundgarden Guitarist Wants to Release B-Sides and Covers Albums
Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil says he’s hoping to release a B-sides and covers album soon
Soundgarden just released their latest studio album, “King Animal,” this month, but the band may have some more new tracks on the way. Guitarist Kim Thayil says that while the guys took their time putting together the new release (it came 15 years after Soundgarden’s previous release, “Down on the Upside”), they’re already looking to give fans new music soon.
Speaking with Hails & Horns Thayil dished that he’s gunning to release a B-sides compilation set of “Soundgarden originals that were not compiled in an album format.” He also said the supposed release would highlight “two or three albums” and pack in “originals that were only available on compilation records for other labels or movie soundtracks, or B-sides in Australia and Europe.”
That’s not all. Thayil also says he would like to put together an album of covers that Soundgarden has recorded and “an album of some instrumental stuff and some dub mixes.”
Soundgarden are set to embark on a North American tour this January in support of “King Animal.” The trek sets off Jan. 18 at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. and wrap up Feb. 16 at the Wiltern in Los Angeles, Calif.
