Dave Grohl rounds up ‘Sound City’ artists to perform at the Sundance Film Festival

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is getting ready for the premiere of his new documentary, “Sound City,” and now, the famed musician has lined up a group of artists from the film to perform a special concert in honor of the showing. Grohl and a mass of musicians will perform as Grohl’s Sound City Players on Jan. 18 at Park City Live in Park City, Utah. The show is set to take place the same day the movie shows at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.

“Sound City” chronicles the famed Sound City Studios, where Grohl and Nirvana famously laid down tracks for the grunge group’s seminal 1991 album “Nevermind.” The film features interviews and performances from many of the musicians who recorded at the studio over the years, including Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme and Alain Johannes, Rage Against the Machine’s Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk, Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, Slipknotand Stone Sour singer Corey Taylor, former Nirvana bass player Krist Novoselic and Foo Fighters’ Pat Smear and Taylor Hawkins.

Kathryn Burns, CEO of Park City Live, is stoked Grohl chose to premiere the documentary at Sundance. “The film Sound City showcases the most talented group of musicians in the world and we are thrilled they chose to celebrate the documentary at Park City Live,” Burns said in an official statement, adding that the night “will be spectacular and we look forward to seeing who will join Dave Grohl and the Sound City Players onstage.”
