Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme talks about the band’s work with Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner

Queens of the Stone Age are only a few weeks away from the release of their latest full-length, “…Like Clockwork.” The album features a collection of guest appearances, including Elton John, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, Nine Inch Nails singer Trent Reznor, former Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan, former Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore and more.

Arctic Monkeys singer Alex Turner also appears on the set. Turner got to know Queens of the Stone Age singer Josh Homme during the recording of Arctic Monkeys’ third studio album, “Humbug,” which Homme produced.

As for this collaboration, Homme says Turner brought a spontaneous feel to “…Like Clockwork.”

“When I worked with them on ‘Humbug,’ I never saw a piece of paper or a pen,” Turner told GQ. “They changed lyrics a number of times and they would tumble from one beautiful sentence into the next. Alex never wrote anything down and I thought ‘This is just a part of who he is. This is a part of him…’

“I think much like a yoga instructor he’s always stretching himself and he’s finding new places to reach. He’s willing to take big risks and I really respect that and think it’s the way to do it.”

“…Like Clockwork” arrives in stores and online outlets on June 4.
