Bass Player Kim Deal Leaves the Pixies
Pixies bass player Kim Deal is exiting the band
The Pixies are one woman down. The band on Friday (June 14) announced that longtime bass player Kim Deal, who has kept busy this year touring with the Breeders, has excited the band. In a statement, Pixies band members Black Francis, Joey Santiago and David Lovering say “we will always consider her a member of the Pixies.”
Here’s the band’s official statement: “We are sad to say that Kim Deal has decided to leave the Pixies. We are very proud to have worked with her on and off over the last 25 years. Despite her decision to move on, we will always consider her a member of the Pixies, and her place will always be here for her. We wish her all the best. Black Francis, Joey Santiago and David Lovering.”
Lately, rumors have swirled that the Pixies have been working on a new album, but they don’t refer to that in the statement. The band also has no tour dates scheduled at the moment. Still, the note implies that the Pixies are far from over, so only time will tell the band’s next move.
