Pixies Announce New Bass Player Kim Shattuck
The Pixies tap Kim Shattuck for bass; announce world tour
The Pixies announced the departure of their bass player Kim Deal last month, and this week, they’ve announced the official replacement for the founding member. Kim Shattuck, whose credits include playing guitar for the Muffs and bass for the Pandoras, will step in for Deal in the Pixies lineup.
The Pixies have also announced that they will head out on a major world tour beginning Sept. 29 in Paris, France. According to singer Black Francis, the band is planning to serve up a wide range of songs spanning the Pixies’ entire catalog on the trek.
“Along with everyone’s favorites, we’ll be playing songs that we haven’t played in ages or never played live before,” Francis said in an official statement. “Songs like ‘Brick is Red,’ ‘Havalina,’ ‘Tony’s Theme’ and ‘Sad Punk.’ We’ve probably rehearsed some 80 songs, so we’ll be able to change up the set at the last minute if we feel like it. “
In addition to the European trek, the band is expected to announce a North American tour sometime this month. For more on the Pixies and upcoming tour dates, visit the band’s official website.
