Foo Fighters to Start Recording New Album Soon, Says Guitarist Chris Shiflett

Guitarist Chris Shiflett says the Foo Fighters will hit the studio soon to record their follow-up to 2011’s “Wasting Light”

Foo Fighters have been taking some time off following the lengthy run of tours in support of their Grammy-winning, 2011 album, “Wasting Light.” Now, guitarist Chris Shiflett says the guys are gearing up to enter the studio to record their eighth studio album.

“We haven’t officially started [the record], but we’re getting underway soon,” Shiflett told Australia’s FasterLouder, adding “I can’t go into too much detail, but…I’m excited about it.”

Shiflett also explained that frontman Dave Grohl has “got a bunch of new songs” and that the way the band will go about making the new record is “fun” and “different.”

He added, “I feel like Dave’s always looking for ways – when we go to make records and we tour – to keep things exciting and keep things inspired and fun. I think he’s got some good ideas for this next one.”

In other Foos news, the band recently donated their track “Home” to be used in a new documentary called “Beach 119,” which documents the experiences of the residents of Beach 119th Street in The Rockaways as they pick up the pieces of their lives following Hurricane Sandy.
