Smashing Pumpkins to Release ‘Oceania: Live in NYC’ Set
Billy Corgan and the Pumpkins will release a live album and 3D concert film set in September
Smashing Pumpkins have a new live album and 3D concert film on the way. The Billy Corgan-fronted band is turning their recent concert at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center into a live album and 3D concert film combination, “Oceania: Live in NYC,” out Sept. 3.
The show has an interesting story behind it. The Pumpkins were slated to play the concert in support of their current album, “Oceania,” on Halloween 2012. Instead, Hurricane Sandy, and the show was moved to Dec. 10.
The concert featured an array of Pumpkins tunes, from their earliest material to tracks off “Oceania.” The first half of the show focused on “Oceania” material, while the second half offered the classics. Songs include “Violet Rays,” “Disarm,” “Zero,” “Inkless,” “Wildflower,” “Tonight, Tonight,” “Bullet with Butterfly Wings” and more.
The set will be available is several different packages, including a standard Amaray DVD, a 3D Blur-Ray DVD, a Deluxe 2CD x DVD package and a digital long form.
In other Smashing Pumpkins news, EMI is set to release an expanded version of the group’s 1996 box set, “The Aeroplane Flies High,” on July 23.
