Radiohead Songs No Longer Played in Chipotle Restaurants

Chipotle’s music programmer doesn’t think Radiohead songs fit on the restaurant’s playlist

Radiohead fans that like to dine at Chipotle will have to enjoy their burritos and tacos without listening to any Radiohead tunes. According to Denver’s Westword, Chipotle’s music programmer Christopher Golub has taken all Radiohead tracks off the restaurant chain’s playlist.

It’s not that Golub isn’t a fan of Radiohead. He simply doesn’t think the band’s songs jive with the restaurant’s architecture. “You know that if you go into a store, you’ve got the small, hard surfaces,” he told Westwod. “You’ve got concrete floors, a lot of windows, hard walls and a lot of cooking gear and tile. So that doesn’t work with certain songs.”

Golub added that, as a programmer, he strives to program music that’s outside the box for Chipotle’s over 1,400 locations. “We do our very best to put on programming that’s not on mainstream radio, on Internet channels,” he said. “We’re not playing the big hits of the world at all. We’re trying to find emerging stars. Emerging artists have this certain feel to their music.”
