Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl says the band plans to release their eighth studio album in 2014
Foo Fighters fans have been anxiously awaiting word of a new album from the guys ever since frontman Dave Grohl announced last September at the Global Citizen Festival that the band’s performance would be their last for a while. Now, Grohl has dropped the news that the legendary post-grunge band has finished writing their upcoming, as-yet-untitled eighth studio album, and they’re gunning to release it in 2014.
“Well, I’ll tell you, we have been in our studio writing and in the past few weeks we’ve written an album and we are going to make this album in a way that no-one’s ever done before and we’re pretty excited about it,” he told XFM. “It’s a little ways off – it’s not ready to happen right now but I think next year is going to be a really big year for the Foo Fighters without question. It’s going to be great, I can’t wait.”
Grohl has kept plenty busy this past year during his down time from Foo Fighters. Not only has Grohl produced the Sound City documentary about the legendary studio where Nirvana recorded “Nevermind,” but he’s also had a hand in prepping the release of Nirvana‘s 20th Anniversary reissue of what would be their final album, 1993’s “In Utero.”
