Jon Bon Jovi’s son may not be going into music, but the boy is primed to steal the spotlight in sports. Jesse Bongiovi, 18, has joined the University of Notre Dame’s football team.
The college freshman is a walk-on player this season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The official roster page states that Bongiovi will be playing cornerback. The page also says he graduated from Brooklyn’s Poly Prep High School in New York City, where he picked up two letters for football and three for lacrosse.
“He’s a tough kid,” said Brian Kelly, Notre Dame head coach, of Bongiovi according to Fox News. “The kids really like him. They respect him. They don’t look at him as a rock star’s son. They look at him as a kid that loves Notre Dame and wants to play football and help this team.”
Notre Dame started its 2013 season at home in South Bend, Ind., on Saturday (Aug. 31), defeating Temple, 28-6. Notre Dame’s next game is Saturday (Sept. 7) at the University of Michigan.
