As I Lay Dying Singer Tim Lambesis Will Stand Trial in Alleged Murder-for-Hire Plot
Murder-for-hire trial of As I Lay Dying’s Tim Lambesis will go forward
As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis will stand trial on a charge that he attempted to have his estranged wife killed. Monday (Sept. 16), a San Diego judge presented the ruling after a preliminary hearing, according to reports from the San Diego Union-Tribune.
During the preliminary hearing, Sheriff Deputy Howard Bradley testified that he went undercover as a hitman and had contact with at a bookstore. According to Bradley, the As I Lay Dying singer told him his desire was to have his estranged wife “gone. I want her never, ever, ever to come back,” adding, “Just so you know, I do want her dead.”
Bradley added that Lambesis presented him with one thousand dollars and an envelope with photos of his estranged wife. He also stated Lambesis was going to pay him a total of 20 thousand dollars for the murder. Bradley went on to say Lambesis gave him a list of dates when he would be with the couple’s three children, so that he would have an alibi when the killing happened.
Lambesis was first arrested last May. He has pleaded not guilty to the charge of solicitation for murder, and his attorney has stated that Lambesis’ mind has been “devastatingly affected” by steroid use. Since the May incident, Lambesis has been free on bail but serving house arrest.
