Beck to Perform ‘Song Reader’ with His Father Conducting
Beck will perform his ‘Song Reader’ release in Los Angeles later this month alongside a list of star-studded performers
Back in 2012, Beck unleashed a special sheet-music release called “Song Reader,” and last summer, he performed the songs at a special London show. Now, Beck has joined up with eyeglass company Warby Parker for a special “Song Reader” performance set for Nov. 24 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
Beck won’t be alone at the show. As Rolling Stone reports, the gig will have Beck teaming up with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, as well as a collection of special guests: Tenacious D’s Jack Black, actor John C. Reilly, ex-Rilo Kiley vocalist Jenny Lewis and Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker. On top of the stars, Beck’s father, David Campbell, will conduct the show.
Beck has also created a limited-edition pair of frames for the Warby Parker brand. The specially designed frames will go on sale in the coming weeks via the Warby Parker website.
In other Beck news, the musician has signed a record deal with Capitol Records and is gearing up to release his latest studio album. The upcoming release, titled “Morning Phase,” will arrive sometime in February and is the follow-up to Beck’s 2008 full-length, “Modern Guilt.”
