Billie Joe Armstrong, James Hetfield are among famous musicians taking part in ‘Acoustic4 a Cure’

A collection of rock and metal artists are joining forces for an event called “Acoustic 4 a Cure,” which will feature a night of acoustic music to benefit the Pediatric Cancer Program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in San Francisco.

Among the famous faces set to appear at the show are Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, Metallica frontman James Hetfield, Nancy Wilson of Heart, Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, and Train’s Pat Monahan. Performers will be rocking out unplugged, and the event’s website hints to expect “once in a lifetime duets and jam sessions,” as well.

This show show is actually the brainchild of Hagar and Hetfield. “I’ve seen first hand the great work they’re doing and how vital community support is,” Hagar said in a statement. “I ran the idea of a benefit concert by James (Hetfield) and we quickly had an amazing lineup of artists on board, then Live Nation stepped up with The Fillmore and now we’ve got an epic event – the first of many hopefully – so we can help keep their research and programs funded and on the path to a cure.”

“Acoustic 4 a Cure” will take place May 15 at the Fillmore in San Francisco. Tickets are available now. For more information and to purchase tickets, head to the official “Acoustic 4 a Cure” website.
