Ozzy Osbourne Not Optimistic About Rock’s Future

Ozzy Osbourne on rock: I don’t know who’s going to carry the flag in the future
Ozzy Osbourne isn’t optimistic about the future of rock ‘n’ roll. In the new issue of Kerrang!, Osbourne fields a question about the weak leadership in the hard rock genre today, and he wholeheartedly agrees. “That might be a very true statement,” Osbourne said. “I honestly don’t know who’s going to carry the flag in the future, but I wish someone would hurry up. None of us are getting any younger, you know.”
As for who Osbourne thinks is the “ultimate rock star,” he picks the legendary David Bowie, explaining that Bowie is “always original with his image and music. Nowadays, I have a problem telling who’s in the band and who’s in the crew — no one looks like a rock star!”
Ozzy Osbourne was included in Karrang!’s list of the “50 Greatest Rock Stars in the World Today.” He recently regrouped with his metal band Black Sabbath and released No. 1 album, “13,” last year.
Osbourne and Black Sabbath are scheduled to play shows in the United Arab Emirates and Russia later this spring, as well as a handful of European festival shows this summer.
