Geoff Tate announces ‘Queensrÿche Starring Geoff Tate — The Farewell Tour’

Queensrÿche co-founder Geoff Tate, who served as frontman for the band for more than three decades, will go out on his last concert tour under the Queensrÿche  moniker this summer, he announced this week.

“Queensrÿche Starring Geoff Tate — The Farewell Tour” will kick off July 30 and continue for a month, wrapping up Aug. 30. The announcement of the tour trails a settlement between Tate and his ex-bandmates Eddie Jackson, Michael Wilton and Scott Rockenfield, which gives Tate the exclusive permission to perform the albums “Operation: Mindcrime” and “Operation: Mindcrime II” as unique performances.

“It’s sort of similar to the Pink Floyd situation where Roger Waters retained ‘The Wall,’” Tate said in a statement. “Mindcrime was my thing and my story, so it’s only appropriate that I keep that….The others will be touring as Queensrÿche and I’ll be continuing on as me.”
