Zakk Wylde’s Beloved Les Paul Found
Black Label Society’s Zakk Wylde has recovered his stolen Gibson guitar
Black Label Society frontman Zakk Wylde has reunited with his beloved, stolen guitar. The guitar, a Gibson Les Paul custom featuring Wylde’s signature bull’s-eye graphics, was returned by the owner of Chicago’s Royal Pawn Shop, who bought it a little over a week after it was apparently stolen from Wylde’s tour bus, which was unlocked at the time.
Randy Cohen, the owner of the shop, received a police bulletin regarding the theft around the time it happened, but explain in an interview with the Chicago Tribune that he had forgotten about the memo when a man brought the guitar into the Royal Pawn Shop. The Chicago Tribune states that when Cohen was getting ready to put the guitar for sale, he discovered it was probably worth much more than $50, the amount he paid for the guitar. As it turns out, the Pelham Blue Les Paul is worth around $10,000.
Cohen had a local music shop assess the guitar, and as soon as they figured out it was Wylde’s, his manager Blasko received notice and replied, “All I need to know was that it was found. That’s good news.”
As for the man who sold the guitar to the shop, Cohen says he was identified at the time of the purchase, as required by Illinois state law.
