P.O.D.’s upcoming acoustic album will feature both classics and new songs

P.O.D. are going unplugged, and they’re asking for help from their fans. The Christian hard rock band has announced plans to record an acoustic album featuring some of their most popular songs that will be funded via a PledgeMusic campaign.

“We originally got the idea after doing a number of radio shows and radio stations asking us to perform acoustic,” the group said in a collective statement on their Pledge Music page. “We were a bit hesitant at first, but after great fan reaction, we wanted to do a whole acoustic album. We’ve been hard at work in the studio and have already finished over half of the album. We’ve been having a lot of fun with it and it’s got a really raw, stripped down feel to it.”

After asking fans what songs they’d like to have on the album, the guys have promised to include favorites “Youth of the Nation” and “Alive,” as well as two new songs. P.O.D. will also offer a variety of exclusive, limited-edition and one-of-a-kind items from the “P.O.D. vault” for fans that donate. Some of the bonus items include signed CDs, phone calls from band members, guitar picks, signed drum sticks, private Skype lessons and online video game sessions with the band and a private house show. To view all of the pre-order incentives, head to the band’s Pledge Music page.

P.O.D.’s upcoming acoustic album is slated to arrive on Sept. 16.
