U2’s ‘Films of Innocence’ will feature short films inspired by the band’s ‘Songs of Innocence’ album
U2 will unleash a series of short films inspired by the 11 songs on their new album, “Songs of Innocence.” The collection, named “Films of Innocence,” which will arrive on Dec. 9 via iTunes, will offer short films crafted by 11 different respected urban artists from a range of countries. The set is available for pre-order via iTunes.
The filmmakers who were part of “Films of Innocence” were picked “for their undisputed ability to capture the imaginations of their audiences, (and) were given complete creative freedom to showcase their personal responses to U2’s music,” states a description on iTunes. The films offer both animated and live-action sequences.
According to the film’s synopsis, “the political murals of Northern Ireland” served as “a reference point” for the project, honoring “the unique democratic power of urban art.”
The artists involved are Oliver Jeffers, Robin Rhode, D*Face, Mode 2, Chloe Early, Ganzeer, Vhils, Maser, ROA, DALeast and Todd James.
