Mastodon to Reissue Full Reprise Records Catalog on Vinyl
Mastodon will re-release all of their Reprise Records albums on vinyl this year
Mastodon have dropped the news they will reissue their Reprise Records catalog on vinyl throughout 2015. The metal kingpins’ releases with the Warner Music Group-owned label include 2006’s “Blood Mountain,” 2009’s “Crack the Skye,” 2011’s “The Hunter” and, of course, 2014’s “Once More ‘Round the Sun.”
The first of the bunch, “Blood Mountain,” scored Mastodon their first Grammy nomination with the single “Colony of Birchman,” which features Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age fame. That set will arrive on a mix of solid yellow and transparent green vinyl March 3. “Crack the Skye” will follow on baby blue vinyl June 2. Next up, “The Hunter” will arrive on a mix of solid white and solid red vinyl Aug. 4. “Once More ‘Round the Sun,” Mastodon’s newest release, will be reissued Oct. 5 on a mix of transparent green and solid white vinyl.
Last but not least, Dec. 8 will bring a limited-edition box set with all of the band’s Reprise Records albums on vinyl. Only 500 of those will be produced.
Here’s another cool bit of Mastodon news: The guys will release a new song, “Atlanta,” as a 12-inch picture disc on April 18, which is Record Store Day. The guys will also hit the road with Clutch on a North American tour starting in April.
