Radiohead Using ‘Very Old and Very New Technology’ on New Album

Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood says the guys are experimenting on the recording of their new album

Radiohead are hard at work on their much-anticipated new album, and according to guitarist Jonny Greenwood, the recording session have taken some twists and turns. In fact, Greenwood says Radiohead are recording in a way that’s different from anything they’ve done before.

“We’ve certainly changed our method again,” Greeenwood told The Sunday Guardian. “It’s too involved (to explain how). We’re kind of limiting ourselves; working in limits. So we’ll see what happens. It’s like we’re trying to use very old and very new technology together to see what happens.”

So far, Greenwood likes the outcome. He warns, though, that the guys haven’t really listened to the tracks they’ve recorded yet, so there’s always the chance they won’t like what’s been done.

“We’ve done a couple of months of recording, and it has gone really well,” Greenwood said. “We haven’t listened to anything back yet, so at the moment we’re all very happy. Now, I guess we’re going to go and listen to what we’ve done and see if we were right to be so happy. But we left it at a good place when we last stopped.”

In addition to his turned with Radiohead, Greenwood is currently working on a new solo album in India.

Radiohead’s upcoming album will mark their follow-up to 2011 “The King of Limbs.”
