Rolling Stones Will Play ‘Songs We Don’t Normally Play’ on Upcoming Tour
The Rolling Stones will pay tribute to ‘Sticky Fingers’ on their upcoming North American tour
The Rolling Stones recently announced a 15-date North American tour called the ZIP Code tour set to hit stadiums beginning this May. At the same time, the gents will release a special deluxe reissue of their famed 1971 album, “Sticky Fingers.”
Does this mean the Stones will perform their entire “Sticky Fingers” album on tour? According to frontman Mick Jagger, it’s possible.
“We’re floating the idea of playing the whole album,” Jagger told Rolling Stone. “At the very least, we’ll play the songs we don’t normally play.”
Jagger says the thing that makes him hesitate about playing the full “Sticky Fingers” album on the trek is the fact the albums songs tend to be slower than most hard-charging Rolling Stones fare.
“Normally in a show we’d just do one or two ballads. Sticky Fingers has about five slow songs,” he said. “I’m just worried that it might be problematic in stadiums.”
The guys are familiar with all the “Sticky Fingers” tunes, though. “We play a lot of the tunes and know them pretty well,” he said. “I think we’ve played them all at least once…”
“Sticky Fingers” will be reissued on May 26 in various formats. The Super Deluxe Edition box set will offer a bevy of extras, including a bonus disc of rarities; a DVD of concert footage; a live album from a 1971 show in Leeds, England; a hardcover book; and more.
