Dave Grohl Was Touched by ‘Times Like These’ Florence + the Machine Cover
Florence + the Machine nailed the Foos’ ‘Times Like These,’ Says Dave Grohl
When Dave Grohl broke his leg at a show in Sweden, Foo Fighters had to cancel their headlining stint at the U.K.’s Glastonbury. Florence + the Machine filled in for the band, and they also paid tribute to Grohl with a cover of one of the Foos’ biggest songs, “Times Like These.”
Seeing Florence + the Machine cover the Foos touched Grohl. The day after the gig, someone sent Grohl a link to the live performance, and he cried like a baby, Grohl told Q of watching the female-fronted alternative band sing the 2003 single.
“I am forever indebted to them,” Grohl said. “It meant so much, you have no idea.”
Coincidentally, Florence + the Machine frontwoman Florence Welch broke her foot when she jumped off stage earlier this year at Coachella.
“She gave me great advice for healing broken bones,” Grohl said.
Foo Fighters will return to the road on a North American tour on Aug. 12 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
